Course Dates: modules run each term and last approximately 8-10 weeks

Who is it for?

Ushaw offers a four-year programme of formation which focuses on the necessary human, theological, spiritual and pastoral elements of ministry from the particular perspective of the permanent diaconate. The programme is primarily designed to dove-tail with local, diocesan-based provision for ministerial discernment. However, some components are available as a partnership programme for dioceses furhter afield from Ushaw or as ongoing formation for serving deacons wishing to deepen their own study and ministry.

What is it about?

Diaconate Study Modules are available via online distance learning. They are tailored specifically to the needs of the permanent diaconate and are informed by critical reflection upon the demands and challenges of this ministry. They are overseen by experienced tutors and facilitated by mutual conversation and interaction with fellow serving deacons and/or diaconal candidates.

  • Vatican II: The Council that Restored the Diaconate
